Work and Education:
Professor Brandt has taught nursing at Baylor since 2018. Prior to teaching, she began her work as a nurse in medical/surgical nursing. She then moved to the pediatric ICU where she worked for 4 years as a staff and charge nurse. After she graduated with her MSN in 2017, she began working as a family nurse practitioner in an asthma and allergy practice. She now practices PRN as a family nurse practitioner at Paragon Healthcare. Previously, she taught pediatric and med/surg clinicals on Levels 2 and 3. She now teaches the pediatric didactic course for FastBacc, pathophysiology/pharmacology II, as well as continuing to teach pediatric clinicals for both the traditional and FastBacc programs.
Committees and Organizations:
Professor Brandt serves as chair elect of the Faculty Affairs committee at Baylor. She is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the North Texas Nurse Practitioners Association.
Research and Presentations:
Professor Brandt recently completed her DNP at University of Texas Arlington, where she completed a doctoral project on the implementation of a new infusion protocol. Her research interests include pediatric vaccine hesitancy and education, as well as implementing new and creative teaching modalities in the classroom.
Community:
Professor Brandt is actively involved in her church, St. Peter and St. Paul Anglican Church, in Arlington, TX. She serves there as a Parish Nurse. Courtney and her husband Jared serve as foster parents for Tarrant County and have one foster daughter who has been in their family for 15 months. They also have three biological children, Emma (4), Henry (2), and Maggie (7 months).
