Work and Education:
Dr. Carpenter is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing. Before Baylor, Dr. Carpenter (along with her husband) owned and operated one of the busiest urgent care centers in West Texas for 16 years. Her areas of expertise are urgent care, acute care, and treatment of obesity. After becoming a nurse practitioner, Dr. Carpenter has focused on wellness and preventative care. As an RN, Dr. Carpenter’s expertise was in emergency room medicine, obtaining certification as a certified emergency room nurse. Dr. Carpenter is presently working on obtaining certification as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP).
Committees:
Dr. Carpenter is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP, a member of Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP), El Paso Nurse Practitioners (EPNP), American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP), holds a certificate to treat obesity through the Obesity Medical Association (OMA), American College of Sports Medicine and Sigma Theta Tau International.
Community:
Dr. Carpenter is a member of Abundant Church in El Paso and volunteers in the Food Pantry. Dr. Carpenter also participates in numerous marathons and half-marathons with friends, family, and her adult kids. Dr. Carpenter has done presentations on health and wellness for staff. Dr. Carpenter has also coached basketball for her daughter’s school. Dr. Carpenter and her husband have 7 kids, 8 grandchildren, 3 horses, and 6 golden retrievers.
