Work and Education:
Dr. Gorecki graduated from St. Xavier University in Chicago with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked for several years in critical care before earning her Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago and becoming board certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC). She completed a post-graduate advanced practice fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Illinois State University. Her scholarly project on implementing a sleep promotion bundle for critically ill patients to reduce delirium led to the launch of her sleep promotion bundle in all four intensive care units at Baylor University Medical Center.
Dr. Gorecki currently practices at North Texas Critical Care as a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, managing critically ill patients in the cardiothoracic/transplant intensive care unit at Baylor University Medical Center. She also serves as the Assistant Director of their Surgical Critical Care Advanced Practice Fellowship.
Dr. Gorecki has taught nursing at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing since fall 2023. Specializing in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, she teaches students through lecture, lab, and clinical settings. Her lectures are informed by many years of professional experience practicing critical care nursing.
Articles and Presentations:
Outside the classroom, Dr. Gorecki contributes to both nursing presentations, articles and nursing associations. In 2022, she delivered a presentation called “Sleep Quality in the ICU: Its Impact on Delirium and Patient Outcomes” for the Mennonite College of Nursing Scholarship Symposium. She is the primary author of “Naloxone Use in Illinois,” published in 2017 in the American Nurses Association of Illinois’ The Nursing Voice. She is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses as well as the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Community:
Aside from spending time with her husband and two daughters, Dr. Gorecki serves as a mentor for advanced practice providers during their transition to practice. She is a violist with over 20 years of experience and has performed with community orchestras. She is active in several groups in her church and her local community.
