Work and Education:
Dr. Guffey joined Baylor University LHSON this semester as a full-time assistant clinical professor in the graduate program. She is teaching in the DNP courses and her specialty is in pediatric acute and primary care. She has had the pleasure of teaching in several PNP programs and is looking forward to a long-term relationship with Baylor. She has worked at Cook Children's Medical Center in Ft. Worth, TX for 25 years. She spent 19 years in the PICU and is now with the Neurosurgery group.
Committees:
Dr. Guffey is thrilled to join the missions committee with Baylor. She has served on the graduate advisory committees at other universities and enjoys working with NAPNAP as well.
Articles and Presentations:
Dr. Guffey recently published a narrative in the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Journal titled "When Mission Is The Mission." She continues to work on pediatric obesity education and looks forward to publishing her project on pediatric obesity next year. She has presented at multiple pediatric conferences and teaches at Cook Children's. Dr. Guffey also works with the patient education committee at Cook Children's to publish education regarding specific neurosurgical diagnoses.
Community:
Dr. Guffey loves mission trips. She has had the pleasure of joining the congenital heart surgery team in Guyana and Dominican Republic. Her most loved trip was in 2018 when she was accompanied by her daughter serving the children in Guyana. She lives in Aledo with her two teenage daughters. The three serve in the children's ministry of Christ Chapel Bible Church and Dr. Guffey is very excited about mission work with Baylor University.
