Work and Education:
Dr. Schubart has 20 years of teaching experience including baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs in large, land-grant universities and private institutions. Scholarship interests include simulation in advanced practice nursing curriculum and supporting new graduates as they transition to the advanced practice nursing role. Dr. Schubart’s clinical experience has focused on primary care and increasing access for rural and underserved populations.
Committees:
Dr. Schubart currently serves as a DNP-FNP track coordinator in the Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON). She serves on various LHSON committees including DNP Coordinators, Graduate Curriculum, DNP Project and Program Effectiveness.
Articles and Presentations:
Outside the classroom, Dr. Schubart contributes to both nursing publications and nursing associations. Recent publications include a chapter contribution on a womens health topics in a primary care textbook and an article on simulation in FNP programs in Nursing Education Perspectives.
Community:
Kara Schubart is involved in her local community. Aside from spending time with her husband and two daughters, she is an active member of River Cross Church in Gainesville, FL where she enjoys supporting the children’s ministries through service.
